Funding
Funding for Full-time HNC/HND Courses

When you are given an offer of a place on a course, the College will send you an application form which you must send to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).

You apply using this form, as soon as possible, for:
  • Payment of your tuition fees
  • A student loan
  • Any grants or allowances you might qualify for e.g. ‘Lone Parent Grant’
Will I have to pay tuition fees?

Tuition fees will be paid by SAAS for almost all HN students, unless you have previously had help with study at HND or Degree level.
All students should apply to SAAS for payment of tuition fees.

How much of a student loan will I get?

Most students will need to take out a student loan to help with living costs. If you are over 25, you are married, you have supported yourself from earnings or benefits for any three years, or you are a mature student, your parents’ income will not be taken into account when calculating the amount you receive. Many students find they have to work part-time to support their studies.

Is there other help available?

The College may be able to give you help with childcare, accommodation, travel, etc depending on your circumstances. This would be done through the hardship fund however you should only apply for this help after you start your course.

Young students (not mature students) can claim the Young Student Bursary which replaces part of the loan, and which does not have to be paid back.
