Course Guidance

The course guidance team is part of student services and aims to provide a wide range of information, advice and guidance to those currently studying at the College and those who may be thinking of enrolling on any of the many courses available.

The course guidance team work closely with teaching schools to provide up-to-date course information, as well as helpful, friendly advice on a range of other issues that need to be taken into consideration when applying for a course. The service provided is confidential and is delivered on a one-to-one basis via a drop-in facility.

Pre-entry advice and guidance

Not sure which course you want to study? Unsure of what the course entails, how much it may cost and how much time you may need to commit to study? The course guidance team can look at your qualifications, skills and experience and match this up with the courses available. We can also give advice on funding, childcare, learner support and accommodation before you embark on a course. We are on hand to help you fill in the application forms and answer any questions or queries you may have.

On-course advice and guidance

Once you are studying your course the course guidance team - in partnership with your course tutors - can help resolve any difficulties you may have about your course and prepare you for the next stage. The course guidance team is very accessible and surrounded by other services such as learner support, careers, jobzone, accommodation, counselling and funding.
We make effective referrals to our other services and have an in-house careers adviser (Careers Scotland) who can help you identify career and job opportunities and also look at other courses to help you further develop your skills and prospects.

Exit advice and guidance

Once your course is coming to a close and you have decided that you wish to leave the College, the course guidance team along with careers guidance are available to help you assess your options and identify realistic and achievable targets, either in the work environment or with other studies.
